One of our member organizations, the Houston Area Fiber Artists will be having their 2013 annual juried gallery show “Art for Art’s Sake”.
The gallery will show will be restricted to art works that are primarily fiber , such as all hangings, sculpture pieces, dolls as well as wearable art clothing. The juror for the show is ctoria Lightman. All pieces juried into the show must be for sale and be included in the show for the entire duration of the show.
In addition to the juried entries for the gallery show, a non-juried exhibition/display of fiber art and its process will be included. Exhibition pieces will be handled by Carol Watson, Co-Chairman of Art for Art’s Sake.
The show opening reception will be held at Gallery M Squared, 7-9 PM on Oct. 26.
During the opening reception, there will be also be a fashion show featuring outer wear garments made by Houston Area Fiber Artists. The style show will only be presented at the opening reception.
During the fashion show, models will walk throughout the room, allowing patrons to see the fashions as well as view the wall art gallery displays.
Original fashion wearables will be coats, vests, jackets, pull-on and pull-over garments that are simple and easy to take on and off. All garments in the fashion show will be for sale.

Austin Fiber Artists and Weavers and Spinners of Austin announce the Fashion Fusion Wearable Art Show on Sept. 29, 2012 in the Balcones Country Club in Austin.
The event will begin at 9:30 am with a vendor artisan area featuring wearable art, art wearable accessories and unique jewelry. A silent auction and wearable art raffle will be a part of the festivities.
Tickets are $45 for the great luncheon and fashion show. Don’t miss out on the chance to purchase fashion show garments after the event. It can be a great way to expand your art wardrobe.

The Fiber Artists of San Antonio fashion show for 2012 will be this Saturday May 12, 2012.
The event will also feature fiber art vendors, a silent auction and a raffle. The vendors will be selling a wide variety of clothing styles and designs and is definitely not to be missed.
Fashion show tickets are currently sold out, however, the vendors area is open to the public. Also, all garments included in the fashion show will be available for purchase after the end of the event. Even if you missed out purchasing a ticket, there are opportunities to see the great work created by Fiber Artists of San Antonio members.
The fashion show will be held at the Oak Hills Country Club, 5403 Fredericksburg Road, San Antonio. The fashion show garments, and the vendor area will open again after the end of the fashion show at approximately 1:00 o’clock.

Fashion Extravaganza Around the World
This event returns again for another Fashion Extravaganza featuring one-of-a-kind wearable art garments created by member artists of the Fiber Artists of San Antonio. All kinds of fashions are shown from jackets to dresses, clothing accessories to hats. Tickets for this event which includes a sit down lunch are available through FASA member Phyllis at 830-964-5242. Ticket sales for non-FASA members went on sale March 1st.
Some of the techniques used in the garments include deconstructed screen printing, Shibori, complex cloth, embellishments and felting. Many of the garments will be offered for sale after the event.
A vendors area will also be a part of the event offering unique hand-crafted items as well as fiber related supplies. A raffle and silent auction are also planned.
Proceeds from the event will benefit local San Antonio designated charities. The Fiber Artists of San Antonio is a 501 3(c) organization.
A new group is forming in the area and will meet at the Hobby Lobby meeting room in Tyler on April 10, 2012 from 6 pm to 8 pm.
Bring a fiber project, completed or not, for show and tell and enjoy a stimulating talk by Ruth Drayer on unleashing creativity.
Also, there will be a discussion about forming a group of fiber artists in the area. We will talk about future meetings, about topics of interest and also about possible workshops.
